Tabor Slope Abode
Tabor Slope Abode
While walking in the neighborhood of their downtown condo, our clients decided to “pop in” on our offices to introduce themselves and discuss their recently acquired midcentury home on the North side of Mt Tabor. Excited to move from their compact urban pied-à-terre into something with views and proximity to nature, the retired couple selected the home for its untouched midcentury character, solid construction and potential to house their curated selection of midcentury and designer furniture and lighting. The biggest missing piece of the home was a functional kitchen for two and an outdoor deck that could connect the main floor living room with the back yard, which addresses a daylight basement. The clients, outspoken and confident in their design aesthetic, were drawn to a raw-ply cabinetry, which after careful consideration of numerous options, was selected to be a high grade of flat-sawn fir. The warmth of the cabinetry, punctuated by playful pops of gloss yellow upper cabinets and tempered by the white walls and backsplash tile, made for a cheery new kitchen boasting views of Mt Hood from a new eat-in banquette. Downstairs, an unfinished basement was transformed into a guest suite complete with a custom sauna and shower room rendered in moody green tile.
